Peter Obi, a well-known Nigerian leader, has praised former President Ibrahim Babangida for his contributions to the country. Obi said that under Babangida’s leadership, Nigeria experienced real growth, especially in the economy and infrastructure.
Obi spoke warmly about Babangida, saying that his government made important changes that helped Nigeria. Even though no leader is perfect, Obi believes it is good to appreciate those who worked to develop the country.
During Babangida’s time as president (1985–1993), Nigeria made progress in different areas:
Economy: His government introduced new policies to improve Nigeria’s financial system and attract investors.
Banking: The banking sector was restructured, leading to the creation of many banks still in operation today.
Infrastructure: Roads, bridges, and other important projects were built.
Obi’s message shows his belief that Nigeria should learn from past leaders—both their successes and their mistakes.
