A few years ago, a little boy in Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, was left alone to die. His family and community believed he was a witch. He was starving, weak, and had no one to care for him.
Then, Danish aid worker Anja Ringgren Lovén found him. She gave him water, picked him up, and took him to safety. The world saw his heartbreaking photo and named him Hope—because that’s what he needed most.
Now, new photos of Hope show a happy, healthy, and smiling boy. His story proves that kindness and love can change lives.
After his rescue, Hope was given food, medical care, and a safe home. He was taken in by DINNødhjælp, an organization that helps abandoned children in Nigeria.
At first, he was weak and sick, but with care and love, he got better. Today, he is strong, playful, and full of life. The new pictures show him enjoying his childhood, just like any other child should.
In some parts of Nigeria and Africa, people still believe in witchcraft. Sadly, many children are accused of being witches and are beaten, abandoned, or even killed.
