President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the people of Ogoniland to work together with trust and unity to bring peace, development, and a cleaner environment to their community. He believes that only by coming together can the challenges facing Ogoniland be solved.
Ogoniland, in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, has faced many problems for years. These include pollution from oil spills, poverty, and disagreements among groups. President Tinubu said the government is ready to help, but the people must also come together and trust one another.
“Trust is very important,” Tinubu said. “When we trust and work together, we can achieve great things and bring peace and progress to Ogoniland.”
One of the biggest problems in Ogoniland is the damage to the environment caused by oil exploration. The President assured the people that his government is fully committed to speeding up the cleanup of Ogoniland. This cleanup is being led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to restore the land and water.
Tinubu said, “Restoring the environment is not just about cleaning the land. It is also about giving people back their lives and helping them make a good living.”
The President also talked about the need for development in Ogoniland. He encouraged businesses, both local and international, to invest in the area. Jobs, better schools, good healthcare, and improved roads are all part of the development he envisions for the region.
“We need to be honest with each other and work as one team to achieve real progress,” he said.
