22-Year-Old Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Sex Worker in Ogun

A court in Ogun State, Nigeria, has sentenced a 22-year-old man, Emmanuel Adebayo, to death by hanging. He was found guilty of killing a sex worker in 2023.

Emmanuel Adebayo hired the victim, a sex worker, under false pretenses. He then took her to a hidden location and killed her. The shocking incident left the community in fear and sadness.

After the crime, Adebayo tried to escape, but the police arrested him. During the trial, the court heard how he planned the murder in advance.

Justice Kayode Ogunsanya, who delivered the judgment, said the crime was very serious. He sentenced Adebayo to death by hanging, saying that such acts must not be allowed in society.

The victim’s family expressed mixed emotions after the judgment. While they were happy that justice was served, they said no punishment could bring back their loved one.

The case has made many people talk about safety and violence in society. Some people are calling for better protection for sex workers and others in vulnerable situations. Others are discussing whether the death penalty is the right punishment.
